Mr. Kreitzer says this is one of the best heirlooms he has and is very rare.  The hotel was originally built in 1901 and torn down in 1969 when the trees were destroyed.  Not many have this fig.  It is gold and delicious, originally from Italy and sold or given to the Hotel by A Nicoli who was a cook at the hotel and commissioned to plant two varieties at the hotel.  It will crop twice, but is reported difficult to propagate.
