Blava Flor is a beautiful fig with a uniform drop shape and purple and green skin. Inside is a uniform cavity with bright red pulp giving the impression of a ripe plum.  The figs range from small to medium in size and have a strong berry flavor.  Blava Flor originally comes from the Balearic Islands of Spain where it was part of Montserrat Pons’ famous collection.  Blava Flor has many of the desirable qualities that fig growers are looking for:  it is very productive, has good resistance to splitting, produces a breba and main crop, and has a small eye.  Blava Flor figs are mid season ripening, and are not recommended for overwinter outdoors in cold climates.
